Meet the person
Ally McDowell currently serves as the Public Relations Coordinator for Wakefield EMS, where she plays a key role in fostering strong relationships between the organization and the community. She began her EMS career in 2020, initially volunteering with the team before transitioning into a full-time position. In addition to her role at Wakefield EMS, Ally is a Registered Nurse (RN), working in the Emergency Room at a local hospital since 2022.
Passionate about both her career and her family, Ally enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Travis, and their young daughter, Oakley. Outside of work, she embraces the joys of motherhood and enjoys being outdoors in pleasant weather.
With a deep commitment to service, Ally continues to learn and grow in both her professional and personal life.
Meet the position
The Public Relations Coordinator at Wakefield EMS is responsible for managing the agency’s public image, community engagement efforts, and external communications. This role leads the planning and execution of public events, awareness campaigns, and outreach initiatives designed to strengthen community relationships and promote the mission of Wakefield EMS. The coordinator develops and distributes content across various platforms, including social media, press releases, and printed materials, while ensuring consistent branding and messaging. When needed, the Public Relations Coordinator serves as the agency’s Public Information Officer (PIO), managing media inquiries and providing timely, accurate information during incidents or emergencies.
In addition to public outreach, the Public Relations Coordinator collaborates closely with the Training Division to develop and deliver public education programs, including CPR training, Stop the Bleed, and community preparedness initiatives. They work to identify educational needs within the community and design initiatives that promote health, safety, and EMS awareness. This role requires strong communication skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to represent the agency professionally across diverse audiences. The Public Relations Coordinator serves as a key ambassador of Wakefield EMS, building trust and fostering positive relationships between the agency and the public it serves.
