The EMS Engineer at Wakefield EMS is responsible for ensuring that all ambulances and support vehicles are mission-ready, safe, and properly maintained for daily operations. This role includes conducting routine vehicle inspections, coordinating preventative maintenance, and arranging repairs to minimize downtime and maintain fleet reliability. The EMS Engineer oversees the condition and functionality of onboard equipment, lighting, communications systems, and stretcher mechanisms, ensuring compliance with agency standards and regulatory requirements. This position plays a critical part in the operational readiness of the EMS system by proactively identifying and addressing mechanical issues before they impact service delivery.
In addition to hands-on maintenance responsibilities, the EMS Engineer maintains accurate service records, tracks maintenance schedules, and works closely with agency leadership to support capital planning and fleet replacement strategies. They may also assist with new vehicle acquisitions, equipment installations, and upgrades to ensure consistency across the fleet. The EMS Engineer acts as the primary liaison with external service vendors and provides technical guidance to staff regarding vehicle operation and care. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with mechanical expertise and a strong commitment to EMS operational integrity and safety.
