Kirstie Breneman serves as the ALS Coordinator (Captain) at Wakefield EMS, bringing over a decade of experience in emergency medical services to the community. She began her EMS career in 2014 and became a certified paramedic in 2017. Known for her compassionate care and calm presence, Kirstie is deeply committed to treating every patient with the same dignity and respect she would want for her own family.
Kirstie has a strong passion for excellence in prehospital obstetric and pediatric care, advocating for ongoing education and high-quality protocols to ensure the best outcomes for some of the most vulnerable patients. Her dedication to this specialized area reflects her broader mission of delivering thoughtful, patient-centered care in every situation.
In addition to her leadership at Wakefield EMS, Kirstie also serves as a ToxMedic with the Lancaster County HazMat team, bringing advanced training in hazardous materials to the region’s emergency response efforts.

Meet the position
The Advanced Life Support (ALS) Coordinator at Wakefield EMS is responsible for overseeing the operational readiness and clinical effectiveness of ALS services across the organization. This leadership role ensures that ALS resources—including equipment, medications, and advanced-level personnel—are deployed efficiently and in compliance with state and regional protocols. The ALS Coordinator supports daily operations by managing ALS unit coverage, maintaining inventory control, and ensuring that ALS vehicles are properly stocked, maintained, and inspection-ready. They serve as a clinical resource to advanced level provider in the field, assist in quality assurance efforts, and act as a liaison with the agency’s medical director and regional ALS partners to promote continuity of care and system integration.
In collaboration with the Training Division, the ALS Coordinator contributes to provider onboarding, credentialing, and continuing education for ALS staff. The position involves monitoring performance metrics, supporting case reviews, and recommending improvements to protocols and operational procedures. The ALS Coordinator may respond to significant incidents to provide ALS-level oversight and coordination, and they play a key role in shaping the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. This position requires strong clinical knowledge, operational insight, and leadership ability to support the evolving needs of Wakefield EMS and the communities it serves.
